Overview: Wilfred A. Sessoms Sr. was born in the Bronx, New York. He studied Fine Arts at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and the School of Visual Arts in NYC. Wilfred is a member of the 1978 Maplewood Art Center in Maplewood, NJ. and a member of the Portrait Society of America.

“Capturing the three-dimensional form and likeness of a person on a two-dimensional surface to me is akin to seeing the painting of the person come to life. Painting portraits of historical figures is my way of documenting the importance of that person’s life work, giving credence to their contributions and their sacrifices for the betterment of society. However, I experienced that same exhilaration when painting people that have commissioned to have their portraits done”.

Wilfred currently resides in Irvington, NJ where he paints portraits on commission.
